About the Event
Course Goal: The goal of this course is to provide knowledge and skills to ISSMs, ISSOs, ISSEs, and Assessors responsible for implementing and assessing security policies, practices, and technologies in accordance with Risk Management Framework, JSIG, IC, and DoD Guidance.

Objectives:

  • Explore in detail the RMF steps – Step 0: Prepare through Step 6: Monitor.
  • Explain individual, group, and organizational responsibilities in the RMF process.
  • Through in-class exercises, get to know specific documents required for RMF.
  • Discuss risk management concepts.
  • Consider categorization key concepts.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the Security Authorization Package and Bodies of Evidence.
  • Explore Security and Privacy Controls, Control Baselines, Overlays, and Control Tailoring.
  • Gain insight and discuss best practices for achieving ATO.
  • List Security professional best practices and recurring tasks.

(Skill Learning Objective text: Use or modify as needed) This training is essential to my role, as the JSIG has been deemed the DoD SAP collaborative implementation guidance for the Risk Management Framework. The JSIG provides critical guidance to assess and authorize SAP information systems that is foundational to the principle of reciprocity among the Services and Agencies.
Other fields are user-specific.
